A Dermatologist is a Specialist medical practitioner who is able to diagnose, treat and prevent skin cancers and other skin diseases and conditions. Dermatologists are trained as doctors, followed by several years of full-time training in hospitals and a four year national dermatology program to obtain specialist qualifications. Dermatologists look after patients of all ages, from babies and children to adolescents and adults.
Dr Peter Fergin has been providing specialised dermatology services for over 37 years to the Dandenong region and surrounding areas. Over that time the clinic has evolved to include Dandenong Dermatology Centre, offering laser and cosmetic treatments and has taken onboard other specialists to accomodate the expanding needs of the community. Dr. Peter Fergin
Dr Peter Fergin is a Dermatologist with more than 37 years of experience and was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 1978. He is a founding member of the Skin Cancer Foundation of Victoria and is currently a consultant at Monash Medical Centre Dermatology outpatients at Clayton and the Head Consultant at the newly established Dermatology outpatients Clinic at Monash Dandenong Hospital. Dr Fergins research experience is extensive, involving clinical trials and research in psoriasis and eczema. He was also involved in photodynamic therapy research in the U.S.A which is now an accepted from of treatment for sun damage, acne and other skin conditions. Dr Fergin has had multiple articles published in a range of journals in Australia as well as overseas. Dr Fergin is extremely active within the Dermatology community, volunteering his time and expertise to young dermatologists as well as going above and beyond for all his patients, inside and out of the clinic.
Dr. Olivia Milne
Dr Olivia Milne is a Fellow of the Australian College of Dermatologists and has worked along side Dr Fergin at Monash Medical Centre Dermatology outpatients at Clayton, as well as at the newly established Dermatology outpatients Dandenong. Prior to commencing her medical training, Dr Milne completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and worked for several years as an equine and emergency vet. Her interest in skin led her to undertake a medical degree and completing the four year training program in dermatology. During her training she has worked in all the major Melbourne hospitals and has published numerous articles in major dermatology medical journals. Dr. Milne is qualified in administering Botox injections for hyperhidrosis and is interested in all dermatology conditions and skin care management.
Assoc. Prof. Stephen Gilmore
Associate Professor Gilmore is now consulting at our Dandenong clinic, joining us after returning to Victoria from Queensland. Associate Professor Gilmore is a Dermatologist of many years experience and a researcher with an interest in statistics, bioinformatics and modelling skin disease. Assoc Prof Gilmore treats patients covering all dermatological conditions.
